Legend of Sand Lake
Origin story from Telaga Sarangan, Magetan
Kyai Pasir and Nyai Pasir are husband and wife who live in Lawu mountain forests. They take shelter in a house (cabin) in the East Lawu forest slopes. The cottage was made of wood leaves the forest and thatched roof. With a very modest cottage is both already felt very safe and not afraid of the danger that happened, like a wild animal disturbance and so on. Moreover they have long lived in the forest is so understanding of the situation surrounding environment and must be able to overcome any interference that might befall him.
On one day Kyai Pasir go into the woods planting something with the intention of the field, a livelihood for everyday life. First Kyai Pasir cut some big trees one by one, because the fields that will be planted covered with some large trees.
Kyai Pasir suddenly surprised to find chicken egg under one tree that he cut. He watched the egg for a moment and asked in his heart, what eggs that he found was. And he looked around but no poultry animals lay as usual. Not thinking anymore, Kyai Pasir bring home and given the egg to his wife.
Kyai Pasir told Nyai Pasir how he found the egg, until then he brought home.
Finally, both husband and wife agreed that they boiled the findings. While the egg cooked, half cooked egg Nyai Pasir gave it to her husband. Kyai Pasir ate the egg, and then Kyai Pasir went to the field to continue his work cutting trees and planting.
On the way back to the fields, Kyai Pasir still feel good just eggs eaten. But after arriving in the field, his body was hot, stiff and painful. His eyes glazed, cold sweat out all over his body. This suffering comes suddenly, so Kyai Pasir could not resist the pain and eventually fell to the ground. He was very confused because the whole body stiff and had unbelievable pain. In critical moment Kyai Pasir rolled on the ground, rolled around with fierce there. Magical Kyai override Kyai Pasir. Suddenly his body transformed into a huge dragon, grouse, very scary mustache. Huge dragon rolled around there all the time.
Nyai Pasir who stayed in the house, also ate the last half of a boiled egg, with a sudden onset of the same fate as that experienced by Kyai Pasir. Her whole body became sore, stiff and terribly hot. Nyai Sand became confused, there running around, don’t know what to do.
Because of this pain that eventually carried Nyai Pasir ran into the field intended to meet her husband for help. But what she met. Instead of met Kyai Pasir, but a huge dragon once and frightening. Seeing the great dragon Nyai Pasir shocked and unbelievable scared. But because she felt the illness is getting worse, Nyai Pasir could no longer survive and drop to the ground. Nyai Sand had the same supernatural fate as her husband endured. So he fell to the ground, his body transformed into a huge dragon, grouse, and mustache, long and horrible sharp teeth. Both dragon finally there rolling around, rolled squirmed on the ground field, causing the land where the dragon roll that became scattered and sunken like extractive-scoop.
Basin is increasingly broad and deep, while the great dragon was also more powerful also rolled suddenly from the hollow in the land and vast water spraying large radiating everywhere. In an instant, the hollow was filled with water and Kyai Sand fields transformed to a big pond called Lake. This lake by local people called the Lake Sand earlier, because the lake is manifested by Kyai Pasir and Nyai Pasir.
