10. Dewi Murti back to the Palace
“Mother, Mother, look what Kinantan has won for us!” he shouted joyfully.
Dewi Murti embraced her son with a smile of happiness.
Only then did she see there was somebody else standing in the doorway.
“Oh, my faithful Santo,” she said softly, “have you found us at last?”
Santo bowed respectfully. He too had immediately recognized the true queen in the woman standing in front of him, even though fifteen years had passed since they had last seen each other.
Now Dewi Murti told him about her sufferings caused by Nikin and how she was afraid to return to the palace.
“Come back with me, Your Majesty,” Santo said after having thought for a while. “I know a way to show everyone who that evil spirit is.”
That same evening Santo brought his queen and her son to the palace and secretly presented them to the king. That was a happy meeting, for the king too had long since felt a dislike towards his false wife, though Nikin had tried hard to please him. They agreed that she had to be destroyed and the faithful Santo said he could do it.
